thought for a minute it was old hat. In the country areas even 20 years ago, fid? dle music was everything. Especially if you grew up in Inverness County, you were getting large doses of Scottish music from CJFX. Boy, they deserve a lot of credit. We've got three radio stations in metropol? itan Cape Breton that have never kept up with that mainland station, really. That was good, because you were learning to have confidence in your music. If you don't hear your music on the radio, you be? gin to think maybe there's something wrong with it, maybe it's not good enough to be on the radio, and it starts to sink in. I'm sure the kids are going through that. But if the music is there all the time. you never question it, it's a natural thing. Big Ronald MacLellan was known not only for his physical strength but for his ba? sic endurance playing the violin. He could just go all night or all day, whenever he was called upon to play. One particular time he was working over in the Inverness mine--they were using horses in the mine in those days--he was a blacksmith. They had a backload of horses that required him to bie on a 2%-day shift in the mine, he and a friend he was working with. He fin? ished the 2%-day shift with just grabbing naps here and there, and went back to the boarding house. He went in and ate a coup- The number of forest fires in Cape Breton is increas? ing. Last year between Ap? ril and October, 169 were reported. Fortunately, fast action by Lands and Forests crews and volunteer fire? fighters put them out before they did do much damage. Because even a small brush fire can get out of control and ignite nearby trees in seconds, early detection is essential.
