Like, oh my God, I'm playing in the Canada Games, which is national basketball! It just freaked me out. I mean, I was really excited. I couldn't believe it. And you want to work really hard to improve yourself, and it's a goal for you. Elsa: I've always wanted to play in the Winter Games, Danyelle: My home town! El- sa: And it's our home town, in Cape Breton. Danyelle: All my friends are going. Oh, it's so exciting. It's going to be so exciting. I mean, we're playing right up UPTOWN & PRIVATE Members & Guests Only 235 Charlotte Street ONE FLIGHT UP Hertz Rent a Car there in that gym. And I live right here-- walking distance up to the Canada Games gym. Elsa: Just the idea of it being Cape Breton makes you want to play. Danyelle: And a lot of people think it's excellent to have Cape Breton athletes on the team, because we've been so isolated for so long. And finally we're all getting in there and participating. Elsa: A "" ' the Cape Breton athletes don't get tx.' ,.<,' ognition they deserve, compared to the mainland athletes. They think, you know, you have so far to go, and you're way out. Danyelle: People don't realize, though, what kind of commitment we're making. If you take, just all your friends--they think we're crazy--going up there on the xveekends, missing things on the weekend nights, and things like that, Hard on your studies, and working. But it's all in the glory of playing, that we want it • So it's a lot of commitment.
