Merrill Maclnnig and Lloyd Madnnig Little River ghpre gulls just went phrooph!--took right off to the air. And Charlie said, "What the hell happened to the seagulls?" I figured maybe the bilge pump had come on and it just stirred the water-- beautiful day, calm day, you know. And then, a few of the seagulls came back. And the next thing--Jesus, they took off again. And there was this great big wake in the water. Like something had come up to the surface. So I looked at Charlie and he was look? ing at me by this time, and we said, "What in the hell was that?!" So we got suspicious then. So I threw another piece of mackerel out. And up came this gigantic fish. And we could just see sort of the top of him. So I leaned down over the side of the boat--and it looked like a sturgeon. We'd catch them in the salmon net, when my father and I had the nets out. And he had the colour and stuff of sturgeon. I was sure that • s what it was. But I thought he looked an awful unusually big. So I said, "Oh, boy, we should try throwing another piece of fish out--see if he'll come back again." So we threw the fish out. And this time he came-- about half of him came out of the wa? ter. I knew for sure what we had then. So here was this gigantic tuna. And you could see his eye.
