But surely they weren't demanding that it be closed.) Well, just about. I'm telling you the truth. Just about, demanding it to be closed. Once they saw everything going to Mexico, they figured it was going to go anyway. (How do you know that it wasn't going to go, anyway? How do you know for sure that you could have saved even a part of that plant?) Because management had confidence in us to tell us a year before this that it was going. Okay? They told us a year before this that it was going--General In? struments- -a part of it. If they (hadn't) had that much confidence in us, they wouldn't have told us at all. (Well, they had so much confidence that they told Bob Liebke that he could bet his life that he was going to have a job here in Sydney, and that he could sell the house in Massachusetts and buy a house here, because General Instruments was go? ing to stay here. And Bob Liebke had a high position as well.) I know this. (So they lied to Bob Liebke.) Oh, well, they lied to everybody. (And perhaps they lied to you.) Yeah, they lied to everybody. They did. I can agree with that. But at the time they were still going to keep a part of it here. (As far as you know.) Yeah. (I'm not saying that you're wrong, but I'm trying to find out--how do we know that they 'ould have kept anything here?) Be? cause, at the facility they had down in Mexico--I was in the facility--it wasn't a big enough facility to do the job that was supposed to be done. And in fact. General Instruments went down to Mexico and lost the tuner business, because they couldn't supply. General Instruments is not in the tuner business any more. They're in com? puters, making parts for Apple, making parts for RCA computers. They're not in tuners any more. They lost this completely. 1 MIKE'S LUNCH ' LICENSED ~ 1 Your Family Restaurant 1 1 Home Made Cooking 1 Eat In or Take Out Seating 100 People .
