keep, you know, I could deal with that sort of situation. I spent a couple of years living like that, doing a lot of travelling. Having basically nothing, no money--just living from one day to the next. Going to differ? ent places. I was busking, playing on the street with my banjo, making a bit of mon? ey here and there. Or pitching hay for somebody for a meal, and then moving on. Hopping freight trains, hitchhiking.... The New Land That tune--it's a waltz. I wrote it--I don't know--September day or something. We were in the teepee again, we were just kind of getting settled there. I can kind of remember the afternoon, a nice kind of sunny, fall sort of a day, just playing the fiddle. Just the whole idea of the new land, you know--I guess it can express quite a bit of different things. The new land--we were in a new country, a new land. And we had our own new land, our little piece of property we were starting at. It was just kind of a sense of, leav? ing behind, all the things leaving behind, F Am F ' Gm and all the things that were opening up at the same time.
