all that. And they used to go to rununage sales up there in Waltham, Mass. And they'd get a barrel of clothing--a barrel full. Well, they'd probably pay $3 for that. In the barrel there was about half a dozen pair of shoes, 2 or 3 suits, a coat, half a dozen shirts, sweaters. You know? And they'd mail that barrel of cloth? ing to their rela? tives- -whoever they had down here. And then some of that clothing, well, the people weren't used to that kind of ,??--.- • - : ~. ?? clothing. So they'd put it aside, and that would do for the mid-Lent festivities. And when somebody got a barrel--there wasn't only one barrel coming in. There was about--oh, my God--10, 15, 20 families getting these barrels of clothing. So when the mid-Lent festivities came around, you went to see some of these kids. They'd on? ly loan it to us. You had to give it.... (You would exchange it?) Right, right. Be? cause you had to have clothing for three days. So if you'd have gone around with the same out? fit the three days, you'd have been known. So you had to change. Make sure that you would swap uniforms. And the people down here are good for that. Some of them are better than detec? tives . If they see one of your ears showing! You'd got to hide everything. You've got to sort of have a cloth-like over, before you put on your mask--hide all your hair, your ears, the side of the face. So that once you put the mask on, there's no skin showing. Because some of them, they can guess--if they hap? pen to see one eye, end of the nose, an ear--right away they've got you.
