Natalie MacMaster--again, out of the Leon arrangement. And I remember, we even hid Natalie. And then it was cho? reographed, at the end of the opening kind of medley, the break--and Natalie! And boom! Right off the top. Big mo? ment, too. Just kicking her right in, right in your face, you know. It's not been anybody riding on anybody else's coattails. We've given, and we've taken. Natalie, for instance. Just to get her to take a bow, after having played her fiddle tune, was something foreign to her. This whole concept of lights, curtains, set--and stand, take your bow, pause, move off--wasn't some? thing in the nature of what fiddlers do.... She was certainly a professional and she was earning her money and she was doing well. But just that show-biz-y element--I think that she took a leap. Through our show. And I think she'll admit that. That she learned a lot about stage? craft, and about audience and stuff. And because--right back to the Boardmores, right up through--there was still that dis? cipline of theatre, and in presentation. And that you do orchestrate how you are going to look, move. Without making it stilted.... Max MacDonald: We also, as well as argue (each year's Revue) into shape and defend it into shape, we also mutually respect it into shape.
