Frank Landry continued from page 8 You see, the Catholic religion was first originated by Popes, the Pope was at the head. The laws that are made by the Cardi? nals, by the Priests, or by the Bishops-- half of them laws change. The laws that our Lord made, you can keep them because they are the right laws. But the laws that the Pope made, they're broken, a lot of them. And they're only laws that they made themselves to feather their own nests. I'm a Catholic, and I wouldn't change. That's fine. I was telling the priest some time ago, I said: Years ago you used to have preachers that used to come here and, oh, they preached about hell and this. You'd be going to hell. Oh yeah, they'd send you to hell because they thought you were that bad. I was telling the parish priest--he's very familiar with us here--I says, "Father, I'll tell you one thing: you go to bed at night," and I says, "you bless the Lord or you tell the Lord that you love him. How is he gonna burn you?" He couldn't answer me on that. I says, "You tell the Lord even if you're bad. You tell him that you love him. Is he gonna burn you?" That's laws that's made by somebody else.... You know, people don't work today. They don't work today. My work was from 6 o'clock in the morning to 9 at night. You know the best damn thing I worked, the easiest time I worked? I ran the canteen here for 7 years.... I bought that place on the other side. And there was a fellow in Sydney--I knew him, he was travelling for John R. MacDonald (Wholesale) in Syd? ney. I met him one day, I says, "I'm gonna start a canteen." And I said, "You're an agent, I know you well." I said, "Do you want to supply me for three or four hun? dred dollars while I start a canteen?" He said, "I'll go and see you on Sunday after- He came here on Sunday after? noon. I said, "I'm gonna tell you one thing, I haven't got much money." My brother wanted to send me a thousand dol? lars and I wouldn't take it. I went to the bank and I borrowed the thousand dollars. My credit was good and everything. He came over Sun? day afternoon. I says, "Give me something that sells quick." I was there for 7 years and I took sick, and I came in for the old age pension. There was no use for me to make money there and losing the old age pension. I stayed there for 7 years. I took a trip every year to Ste.
