Chris McGrady; The main reason I applied was that when my hus? band went overseas, we had 4 children. And at that time they were only paying for 2 childreno We were getting a princely sim of $12 a month per child. And I think the total we were getting was about $79 a month--total. Jimmy went overseas in 1941. I was living at home with tny parents. Then after my father died in September 1942, it wasn't all that easy. I went working at the plant. Then in '43, I think, they started paying for 4 children. I think we got a- round--with the cost of living--I think it came up to about $91 a month.
