Went down on the train one night. Father met me with a taxi. And went home. And I told them what my mission was. And I asked them what they thought of it. And my fa? ther said, "Well, Margaret, do you remem? ber the day at the woodpile, you said there was something more you could do to save your soul than lock yourself up in a convent." He said, "My dear girl, if you take on that responsibility," he said, "there's no other way that you'll save your soul. And if that's the way you feel, that's what you should do. You have my blessing. But remember this: the day you marry that man, you're the mother of those children, and don't you ever forget it," I said, "What about you. Ma?" And she said, "The only thing I ask you, Margaret, is that you come home to be married in your own parish church. And we'll have a Vacation in Louisbourg! 1'1 Canada / Canada Canadian Parks Service canadien Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Park Operating Hours: June and September 9:30 to 5:00 July and August 9:00 to 6:00 Pre-Season and General Information 733-3100 dinner here for you." And she said, "Do you have any plans yourself?" And I said, "No. 1" just came home to ask you if you thought it would be okay." And Dad said, "Well, you're old enough to make up your own mind. But," he said, "I think a lot of you for coming home to tell us about it," So I came home and I told Neil that as far as they were concerned we could go ahead. So we went and we told Fr, Chisholm, We thought we were going to get married in June. But Fr, Chisholm said, "That little girl is not going to know June from Janu? ary," He looked at his calendar on the desk and he said, "You'll get married the 4th of January." So it was Fr. Chisholm who really proposed the marriage bit, Neil and I had no intentions of that when we went to lona, I wanted an agreement. But anyway, Neil Saturday--that's ter that. And he ring for me. And world did you go that for?" "Well, ring, and if I'm you're not going went to town the next only a couple of days af- brought home a diamond I said, "What in the spending money to buy " he said, "I gave Kay a going to marry you, to be treated any less." So he gave me the ring that night. And the next day at dinnertime, I was making din? ner and, like, I used to prepare the plates for the kids. And Mary spotted the ring, and she said, "Oh, you've got a new ring, Margaret." And I said, "Daddy gave me this." And she said, "How come you gave her a ring and you didn't got me one?" Margaret chuckled. I said, "Well, Mary, Take Route 22 Out of Sydney TOWN DAIRY "The Biggest Little Store in Town" 1290 Main Street??
