struck up a real friendship through this really difficult period. So Leon and me--we started hanging out to? gether a little bit after that. Whenever we'd be in the same town, we'd always get together. And play music together. He was starting to write a lot of songs at that point --some of these songs were really good. And I knew some musicians: Ralph Dil? lon and Berkley La? mey . And why don't we invite them over and have some jam sessions, and kind of flush out these songs musically. We spent a lot of time at Leon's farm in Englishtown --doing that, the four of us. Again, for me. it was just the creative pro? cess that I craved. Being able to work with other people on creative projects. For me, that's where life's excitement was. Like, the future didn't matter. What quickly started to dawn on me was that--none of it sounded nearly as good as the music that we were making back at the apart? ment. We'd play old songs, but mainly we worked on original mate? rial. So, gradual? ly I was able to convince everybody that what we were doing had value. And I don't mean having economic value, I just mean that in itself, it had value.
