(Irene MacLellan; Remember the time your sister Mary gave you the candy cat, when she was working at the candy factory?) Oh, that one. My sister Mary came home for Christmas, and she gave me a big candy cat about that long (holds two fingers up five inches apart), a yellow cat. It was laying down like that and his tail was alongside. I put it in the living room, on the window sill, so everyone would see it. Allan (my brother) was home then. I was seeing the cat everyday, and the cat was alright. I was watching the cat all the time. Then someone took one of the ears off the cat. I went and got the hammer, and smashed the cat into a million pieces. Oh, I must have cried for two hours. Allan said, "The ear of the cat was sweet," and I said, "It will be sweeter now, I smashed it with the hammer!" I remember Alec Dan (my brother) had a bag of candy. He was hiding it under his pillow, and I was taking one out eve? ry day. My God, he found this out, and he got clear rough at me, and he didn't give me one candy at Christmas. He gave them to the MacLellans (our neighbours). (Did you ever do something that you wer? en't supposed to be doing, and not get caught?) Margaret MacLellan, my cousin, used to come down with me. None of us were very old, I was about eight or nine. I said to Marga? ret, "Let's try to make sugar cookies." So we got the flour, and we got everything, and we started making them. We had a dog outside, and the dog started barking.
