Museum is now was a place called MacPher? son's Pond. You could see it from McKeen Street. Because Mr. MacPherson over there, John N. MacPherson, he put a string of lights around it, and he kept it watered. And any time the ice was good, he turned the lights on, so that everybody over town (would know and come).... When we were com? ing home from work at 6 o'clock, if those lights were on, we trekked from here to the museum in the cold. Can you imagine? Over to Holy Cross Rink, or over to Frog Pond. There was a streetcar, but it didn't take you skating. When they finally got the sidewalks out as far as St. Joseph's Hospi? tal and out to the General, that was a pop? ular walk on a fine night. You know, you'd walk out as far as the hospital and turn around and come back. And sure as shooting --there were always two girls together. You never went walking alone. Two girls togeth? er. And sooner or later, there'd be two boys walking along behind. And when you turned, the couples would form, and then walk back home. Nowhere to go. You stood at the gate and froze, you know. You'd never think of taking anybody in. But we had fun. We really enjoyed our? selves, you know.
