But when I went up to the Post, when I got the Post job, they put me on space--7C an inch. You had to take a ruler and mark off everything you had in the paper every day, and then turn it in at the end of the week. Well, sometimes I only made 8 or 10 dol? lars. Sometimes I could make it up to 28 or 29 dollars. And they thought that was too much, so they put me on salary for $15! (So where did you find your story ideas back then?)
