I said, "For goodness sake, there's so many wonderful people here. There's so many well-educated peo? ple ." And I said, "This place is alive with stories...." I said, "Think of Ingonish." The heartaches, the heartbreaks." And I said, "Who is there to write about it? Where do you find it? No place." I said, "Where do you turn to find about the wonderful people that live in this community? The old ladies that got up at 12 o'clock in the night and tied a shawl around their head in a snowstorm and laced on a pair of snow- shoes and travelled 2 or 3 miles to help another woman that was bringing a child into the world."
